What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction, relaxation and so much more
Reiki promotes re-balancing and self-healing. It is administered by "palm healing" or "Laying of hands" and is when the Reiki practitioner channels unseen life force energy know as 'Ki' to the recipient
In Yogic terms we refer to this life force as Prana, and in Chinese Medicine you may know it as Chi.
Each person's experience is unique, and may differ on any day.
The word Reiki is comprised of two Japanese words - Rei which means "Universal Wisdom" or "Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force".
So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual self healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promotes overall recovery.
Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well being. A quick internet search, or conversation with a previous Reiki recipient will most likely bring up many enthusiastic reports of miraculous results and experiences.

Reiki use is not dependent on the clients spiritual development or preference and therefore is available to everyone. It has been successfully channeled to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds.
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and therefore you dont have to believe in it order to gain the benefits of it. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not.
Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing (pictured above) recommended that we practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are nearly universal across all cultures.
These elements help the practitioner to be a clear channel for Reiki to flow through to you when you are receiving the treatment.
What to expect during your treatment?
During your appointment you will be lying on a massage style table.
I recommend you choose comfortable cloths and maybe warm socks or a blanket - as although I offer a heated blanket our temperature can drop slightly when we a relaxing into stillness.
Most of the Reiki techniques I use are "Hands off" so there will little touch during your session (usually on the feet or head)
I am also more than happy to work with zero touch if required.
As a sound therapist I also work intuitively with the tuning forks during the In-person Reiki treatments.
The tuning forks are used mid treatment with the intention of re balancing and to further aid with relaxation.
Your the appointment can be tailored to being solely Reiki (omitting sound healing tools) if you prefer.
